【概要】

『スーパーサーフェイス²⁰¹⁸』

オーストラリア出身のアーティスト、トレント・クロフォードによる日本初の個展。1963年イタリアのSuperstudioによって提案された建築のアイディア“スーパーサーフェイス”空間をインフラの格子と捉え、人と環境の関係性を体現したアイディアから引用し、現代のデジタルインフラを見つめ直したトレントの研究作品の展示。

デジタルインフラが個々人とその環境に与える影響の探求を制作の根幹とし。ニューメディアとテクノロジーの分析を見せる。

スーパーサーフェイス²⁰¹⁸が見せるインターネットと将来、またその予想と影響が現代社会に対する考えを観客に問う。

 

【作家紹介】

オーストラリア、メルボルン出身のトレント・クロフォードはビクトリアン・カレッジ・オブ・ザ・アートを特待生で卒業し、テクノロジーによる画像や映像の捉え方を分析、研究しています。

画像や映像は映像機器を通して表示されるため、その時間軸は現実世界とは異なり、時間的および空間的な隙間を生みます。その隙間に着目し、それらを分析、再構築、再定義することによってトレントは、投影される映像機器のスクリーンやフィルターが映像に与える影響を見る人に問いかけます。

[Description]

Supersurface²⁰¹⁸ is the first solo exhibition of Australian artist Trent Crawford in Japan. Primarily focused on the dissection of ‘new media’ and technology, his new body of work is an exploration into how digital infrastructure has come to reframe the individual within their environment. Drawing upon pre-internet visions of a connected future, his work observes how these visions have come to predict and influence the current performance of contemporary life within a collective society. 

 

[Artist information]

Trent Crawford is an artist living and working in Melbourne Australia. He completed a BFA (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts. Interested in dissecting images and technology to explore them in a passive state, Trent’s work focuses on entering the in-between moments in time where the subject or material exists in a state of lapse; often with their function usurped or absent. By disassembling, restructuring and repurposing new media he calls to question how the framing devices of screens and filters are active in the construction, fragmentation and degeneration of the image.
